Flexible Work Arrangements - Policy Development and Training for
an Oil Company - Singapore

This international oil company needed assistance with the development of their flexible work arrangement policies and benchmarking against other Singaporean organisations. Our consultants produced initial drafts of the policies which were agreed by the Executive Team. We then facilitated workshops for their Asia Pacific HR Team and provide advice on the implementation of the flexible work arrangements. Additional workshops were run for Executives and Managers to provide information on the 'How Too's' of making flexibility work within their teams. Additional briefing sessions were facilitated for employees who wished to find out more about how to apply for a flexible work arrangement and build their business case.

Implementing Work/Life Strategies - A One Day Conference in Singapore

This workshop was attended by over 30 delegates from a broad range of Singaporean Public and Private Sector organisations. The conference was designed to assist delegates understand what Best Practice organisations are doing to integrate their strategies into the overall goals of the business so as to achieve culture change and commitment from their Executive Team; develop a strategy to build the 'business case' for work/life balance within their organisation; address the challenges of moving policy and programs into realities within the workplace; and design and implement flexible work arrangements within their organisation. The learning was centred around a comprehensive case study that ensured the day was very 'hands on' and practical.

Ministry of Manpower - Government of Singapore A Review of the
National Work and Family Awards

In June 2005 Managing Work|Life Balance won a competitive tender against other international consultants to undertake a review of the Singapore Government's Work/Life Awards. The project consisted of a series of:

  • Consultations within Singapore government officers within the department, including meeting with the responsible Minister;
  • Drawing together data from diverse employers within Singapore - SME's, MNC's, public sector employers and those across various industry sectors;
  • Undertaking a comprehensive review of the current Award process, objectives and new deliverables and benchmarking against other international work/life awards;
  • Conducting an international review of similar Awards, their judging criteria and selection processes;
  • Developing a series of recommendations for a new award process and all associated materials.

The benchmarking process and the employer consultations provided the client with a strong case for changing their current award judging criteria, classification of entrants and judging processes. Our report and the subsequent recommendations highlighted the need for change. We understand that the committee responsible for the Awards has adopted a significant number of recommendations contained within the final report.
