Education & Training
The commitment and involvement of managers at all levels of the organisation is crucial to the long term success of an organisation's work / life strategy.
Employees look to their leaders to demonstrate understanding and recognition of the issues that affect them and want their managers support in accessing the organisations policies and programs. All too often leaders have not had the experience or training to manage these situations in a positive way.
Our workshops, training programs and information kits provide guidance, skills and development opportunities as well as practical tools to enable managers and team leaders to implement flexible work practices, and to respond appropriately to the needs of employees in a way which complements and supports business goals.
The issues addressed in manager workshops include:
- Understanding the differing needs of intergenerational groups within the workplace
- The business case for developing flexibility and implementing workplace change
- Developing practical work/life strategies
- Leadership skills and behaviours that assist managers to address the day-to-day work/life balance issues within their teams
- Career coaching for employees with family responsibilities
- Conflict resolution
Senior management sessions focus on strategic business issues and outcomes and are customised for each client to meet specific organisational needs.
Employee Workshops
Skill and issue based programs and lunchtime sessions are also available for employees, to develop the skills required to manage work/life issues, including how to access the organisation's programs. We also offer individual coaching using a proven work/life planner developed by our specialist consultants. This resource can also be used as a self-directed planner, supported by in-house coaching or online feedback sessions.
Testimonial
"The workforce of Department of Emergency Services (DES) Qsld has become increasingly diverse. In order to retain staff the department has focused on helping employees achieve work/life balance and workplace flexibility. In 2006 Barbara Holmes, the Director of Managing Work/Life Balance ran six Workshops in DES attended by over 94 staff. They were held in Brisbane, Rockhampton and Townsville. These workshops have helped DES to demonstrate its commitment to work/life balance and provided staff and managers with real and practical advice and strategies on how to implement flexible work practices."
