The experience of Best Practice organisations shows that where staff have developed the skills and behaviours to manage work/life/flexibility issues, the implementation of the strategy has a greater chance of success and, most importantly, meeting the needs of both the business and its staff.

Our highly participative workshops are based on adult learning principles and include a range of activities such as case studies, group discussions and skills practices which ensure the full involvement of all participants.

Manager Workshops and Briefing Sessions

The commitment and involvement of managers at all levels of the organisation is crucial to the long term success of an organisation's work/life strategy. Employees look to their leaders to demonstrate understanding and recognition of the issues that affect them and want their manager’s support in accessing the organisations policies and programs.

Since the introduction of the Fair Work Act 2010 and the need for leaders to comply with legislative requirements in relation to requests for a flexible work arrangement, it has become even more important to provide leaders with both the skills and processes to ensure they manage such situations appropriately. All too often, leaders have not had the experience or training to manage these situations in a positive way.

Our workshops, training programs and briefing sessions can provide guidance, skills, practical tools and guides, as well as personal development opportunities which enable managers and team leaders to implement work/life options and flexible work practices, and be able to respond appropriately to the needs of employees in a way which complements and supports business goals and values.

The issues addressed in manager workshops (which are customised for each client) can include:

  • Understanding the differing needs of intergenerational groups within the workplace
  • The business case for developing flexibility and implementing workplace change
  • Responding appropriately to requests for a flexible work arrangement
  • Successfully introducing work/life strategies within the workgroup
  • Implementing flexible work practices within the team
  • Leadership skills and behaviours that assist managers to address the day-to-day work/life balance issues within their teams.

Senior Manager Briefings

Senior management sessions focus on strategic business issues and outcomes. They are customised for each client so as to meet specific organisational needs.
